The dress has a deep V-Ed neckline with a shawl\/tie collar that is asymmetric and is decorated with stunning extra sparkly faceted black glass beads. They are in geometric designs appliquéd with black silk taffeta squares. The dress has long short sleeves and the hem is trimmed with more beads. The dress has the iconic 20s drop waist that has lovely gathering details on the sides. The hem of the skirt is also decorated in the same fashion as the collar,  just larger, and is so stunning. The camera, \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003esurprisingly, was able to capture just how sparkly the beads are.  The skirt falls to hit the mid-calf, it is unlined and does not have a matching slip. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCondition:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe dress is in great condition overall with only two small repairs. The most noticeable is a small repair below where the collar falls on the left front of the dress. It is small, no bigger than a pencil eraser and if worn with a slip would be next to impossible to see. There is also a small repair in one of the squares on the front, but it is really hard to see. I missed it myself till I went to take a closer look at the hem. The repairs are done well and are hard to see. Again, if you chose to wear a black slip underneath they would be impossible to see. Each of these pieces is trimmed down the front. The step-ins are a large rectangle with two holes for the legs. This set does not have a snap or button gusset it is sewn together. The damage is from pulling the ribbon taut. The hem is trimmed in long soft fluffy goldish cream marabou feathers. There is a slit in the middle of the cape so you can access the zipper that runs up the center with a hook and eye at the top. They are gathered in the front and are slightly belled. Each element of the dress is decorated with a glass pearl beaded trim. The attached skirt hangs asymmetrically by two gathers; one on the front and one on the back. The dress opens up in the back with over a dozen little hook and bars. There is a cummerbund styled belt with beautiful rows of pleats. It has hooks and threaded loops to attach. The belt also has celluloid support on the back with two sets of loops so the belt can be adjusted. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCondition:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe only flaws this dress has are a few pulls to the silk in the skirt and some missing white beads, they are only noticeable up-close. Pearl beads that were missing or broken have been replaced with new glass pearl beads. There were about 50 beads that were replaced and I will send some along for you to have extra. The original and new pearls are real glass and can shatter, just be mindful of this. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe dress is made of soft shiny silk. The silk is strong but it is thin silk and should be handled delicately. The silk itself is not fragile at all. There is about an inch of seam allowance that can be let out for sizing and there is a three-inch hem that can be let out for needed length. The dress has a hidden back zipper with two hook and eye closures; one at the top of the back and one at the waist. The back of the dress has lovely scalloped lace that forms a v. The dress has cap sleeves and a boat neck. This dress is fitted to the body and has a sexy leg slit on the front left side. The dress is in great shape and has almost all of its beads and sequins. There are some yellowed sequins that are around the neck and in a few other spots but only at a second glance and close up inspection. According to my referenced size chart, this dress is about a US size 10. This dress is totally wearable upon arrival. Please check the measurements as I would say I am about a contemporary size 10 but this dress does not fit me. It is completely decorated in hand done smocking in a checkerboard pattern with tiny shell buttons running down from the neck to the end of the bust. The nightgown is all bias cut with the gown fitting a bit more like an empire waist because of the seam falling between the waist and the underbust. The skirt of the nightgown flows and clings to the body falling to the ankles. The finishings are all impeccable with all the seams being french seamed and all being hand done.
