Sally Victor (1905-1977) first started making hats at Macy’s in 1924, then for L. Bamberger \u0026amp; Co. She opened her own millinery business on 53rd Street ,NYC in 1934 which grew to become one of the largest hat companies in the USA. In the early 1950s Victor’s Airwaves hat, which resembled a cut-out pie crust, was popularized when Mamie Eisenhower wore one to the Presidential inauguration. A new, lower-cost line which was geared toward a younger customer, Sally V, was launched in the 1950s.
