This is a 40 year old bag, and it is as tough as nails!  There are no excessively worn corners, popped stitches, or ink stains.  It has been bathed in an archival cleanser, when it was drying it suddenly reeked of mold! Back to the drawing board.  Archival moisturizer was applied, then went in for the mold killing trifecta: tea tree oil, peroxide, and vinegar were each applied.  Left it out to let Mother Nature do the heavy lifting, and gave it a mold inhibiting moisturizing treatment while it was still damp.  Once dry, it totally passed the sniff test!!
