It is bold yet sleek resulting is a beautiful piece of vintage Italian art glass.   It is very substantial, and heavy.  “Sommerso” in Italian means literally \"submerged\" or \"sunken glasses\". It is a fairly difficult technique, but giving a charming effect of three-dimensionality and brightness in the glass structure. The aim of sommerso is to create an illusion of deepness, and to add a glow between the glass layers.  And it certainly does in this piece - the color changes  depending on the angle and it almost looks like a rounded chocolate bowl is floating in a geometric caramel prism.  It has a smooth sleek body with no texture or distraction for the beautiful but simplistic shape.
