No rips to exterior view of binding and I've not seen any rips to pages. The spine exterior end lettering has faded on some of the books over the years, other than that, the cloth is in fine condition as are the interiors. A light foxing of pages here and there but overall a tight and fine edition to a bookcase collection. This is not ex library. No  odors at all  smoke and fragrance free home.
